Navigating roles and responsibilities as a Principal Investigator

This one-day interactive workshop will run on 11 March (online) and 25 June 2026 (on campus).

These interactive sessions support you to explore your responsibilities as a leader and manager of a research project and how you can strengthen your approach to leading projects and teams, dealing with the challenges that emerge and drawing on support from professional services. You will also have the opportunity to reflect on real-world issues such as managing performance, ensuring research integrity, balancing project delivery with team wellbeing and your own priorities. This will help you in creating a positive research culture that is productive, effective, efficient, equitable, inclusive and sustainable.

Established Researcher Hub

Bringing together curated resources to support established and mid career researchers navigating the evolving responsibilities and expectations that emerge beyond early career stages.

The White Rose University Consortium has launched their Established Researcher Hub. This brings together three types of content. Curated resources are organised by persona and topic, so researchers can find what is most relevant to their situation and needs. Peer discussion guides offer a structured way for small groups of colleagues to explore common challenges together, without the need for an expert facilitator. And a collection of career stories presents honest, grounded reflections from established researchers on the decisions they made, the trade-offs they navigated, and what they would tell their younger selves. These are not polished success narratives. They are the kind of frank, practical perspectives that researchers told us they rarely find.
